Guided Winter Walking – UK

Includes – ‘Ben Nevis’ – ‘Scafell Pike’ & ‘Snowdon’

Winter Walking:

Rock n Ridge offers guided winter walking days throughout the UK. Covering classic peaks in winter such as Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon.

We also offer winter skills training courses – see here for more details.

Guided winter walking is a great way to get into the hills in wintertime. Winter opens up a beauty of it’s own. Our guided days takes the stress out of planning the day, and also the worry about getting lost! Ben Nevis is a fine example, as people still think it’s an ‘easy stroll’. Certainly not the case in winter conditions. Throughout the day we will teach you how to use an ice axe and crampons correctly. Our winter skills courses go more in depth with these techniques.

Location:

Predominantly we run our courses from the highlands of Scotland where the conditions are generally much more predictable. Ben Nevis generally gets the first snows, and can hold it right through to July! Besides Scottish winter walking, we run from our Lake District base when conditions allow.

Guided winter walking is open to all, and the days will be tailored to you’re needs and aspirations. Furthermore we have hire kit available. This includes ice axes – walking and technical. Crampons, B rated crampon compatible boots. For more information see our explanation on boot and crampon ratings here.

For our guided winter walking days. We recommend getting the most out of the day/s to be around our Bronze level of fitness – see here. That said you may not have been out in winter before, or just getting back to winter walking. Therefore we can shorten the days to accommodate this.
